Negotiations on the working conditions and salary increases for some 35,000 university employees continued on Tuesday, April 8th.
The next meeting between the negotiating parties will take place on Thursday, April 10th.
JUKO, JHL, and Pro, representing university employees, jointly state that the proposals presented by the Finnish Education Employers to weaken the employment conditions of the staff significantly hinder the completion of the negotiations. The matter of salary increases still needs to be negotiated as well.
The university sector has been attempting to agree on a new collective agreement since the beginning of February.
The collective agreement period ended at the end of March, as no negotiation result was reached by the end of the period.
Despite the end of the agreement period, the thirteen universities in Finland and their staff continue to follow the provisions of the previous collective agreement as usual.
